Aftercare

You've just gotten your veneers. Or your Invisalign is finally finished. It's everything that you imagined and more. Time to have a glass of red wine to celebrate. Wait... Can you even do that? How can we maintain our smiles?

Aftercare instructions will be provided to you upon the completion of your treatment. For aftercare on your oral health in general, we highly recommend regular 3-6 monthly check up and cleans, brushing and flossing twice daily and wearing your provided aftercare splint.

The Basics

It is important to maintain good oral hygiene to ensure your teeth and gums are happy and healthy. Poor oral hygiene can lead to decay, gum disease and gum recession, to name a few.

Remember to:

  • Brush and floss morning and night

  • Continue your 3-6 monthly check and clean appointments with your favourite dentist

We highly recommend purchasing a water flosser to assist in maintaining excellent oral hygiene to use in conjunction with your current routine.

Grinding / Clenching

Grinding your teeth whilst you sleep or clenching during the day can be extremely detrimental to your enamel and oral health. Long term grinding/clenching can not only damage the structure of your teeth, but can cause long term problems.

It is recommended that you wear a splint every night to protect your teeth and act as a barrier between the forces of your grinding.

If you’ve been told that you grind your teeth or if you wake up with a sore jaw, headaches, muscle pain or shortened teeth, please contact a qualified health professional immediately.
